With a shape of an amphora, and a flat base, these are the typical jugs from Andujar, Jaen, (South of Spain) with two handles and four clover mouth. The decoration pays homage to the “Romeria Virgen de la Cabeza”, showing a pilgrim praying to the Virgen, and two horses. The decoration at the other side is kept very simple, with soft lines and interlaced letters VM (Virgen Mary)
The “Romeria of the Virgen de la Cabeza” is celebrated in Andujar, Jaen, the last Sunday of every month of April since 1043. It is the second oldest romeria and people from all over Spain come to celebrate.
