Francisco Soria Aedo was a Spanish figurative painter who began in art in Granada at the hands of his teacher López Mezquita. He obtained important prizes, such as the second medal at the National Exhibition of 1924 for his work Arabic Types and the first at the International Exhibition of Barcelona in 1929 for an oil entitled Christmas Eve in the village. He was a professor of color at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid.1 His work, which is represented in the Museum of Fine Arts in Seville and the Museum of Fine Arts in Granada, pays special attention to the representation of popular Andalusian, Castilian or Moroccan types, being characteristic the great chromatic richness and the fully achieved light effects.
